Rowlett, Texas
(George Bush Turnpike / Main St. area)
Case acceptance date: 05/31/2024
CAPTURED: 06/01/2024 10:13
Female, No Microchip
On May 28, 2024 Good Samaritan Cecilia contacted our team about a stray dog living behind the Chamber of Commerce and she named her “Rose”. According to the locals, this dog has been traveling the train tracks back and forth between Garland and Rowlett for at least a year and she is seen almost daily chasing the DART train down the tracks putting her in a very dangerous situation which creates a sense of urgency.
She is extremely elusive and will not let anyone get close. Thankfully Cecilia had already started a daily feeding station, which has helped keep the dog in the area and helped condition her for capture.
We contacted Rowlett Animal Services and they explained that they do not set traps for dogs so our team is likely her only hope of getting off of the streets.
Our team is preparing to deploy within the next couple of days, so please be sure to follow the timeline below for updates.
Our team arrived on site to deploy our corral for capture. The dog was laying in the grass upon our arrival. We simply ignored her and proceeded with our plan.
We conducted two full body scans on site and found no microchip.
Debbie was able to quickly and easily secure her into a kennel while still inside the corral. Rose is an absolute SWEETHEART and she was loving being petted. ❤️🩹
We transported Rose to Rowlett Animal Services for a legal five day stray hold to give her family a chance to claim her. In the meantime, we will be networking her for a rescue to pull her out of the shelter and put her into their foster and adoption program.
When we arrived at the shelter, she gave team member Debbie a big hug and didn’t want her to leave. 😔😊♥️ She will be in great hands with the shelter staff. SHE IS SAFE!
Good Samaritan Cecilia went to the shelter and took Rose for a walk. Rose is an absolute sweetheart!!! 🩷 Cecilia is going to take her two husky's for a meet and greet with Rose and if they do well she is going to potentially foster Rose until she finds her forever family!
