Stray Doodle~Case 474

Anna, Texas

(White St. near Leonard)

Case acceptance date: 03/17/2026

CAPTURED: 03/19/2026 13:55

Capture Location Coordinates: https://maps.app.goo.gl/TqpZbj1uxjBGTobL6?g_st=ic

Female, Doodle, No Microchip

Our team was contacted about this case by one of our volunteers, Shannon, after she saw multiple social media posts regarding a stray dog dangerously close to the roadway in Anna, Texas.

Our team immediately reached out to Collin County Animal Services to determine if the situation was already being addressed. Collin County Animal Services had already deployed a standard box trap prior to our involvement; however, the dog was not entering it.

We then made contact with a nearby family who shared that they have been feeding this dog consistently since December 2025. Despite their ongoing efforts, they have not been able to gain the dog’s trust or get close.

Based on all information gathered, this dog is extremely elusive, highly fearful, and operating in full survival mode. Given these conditions, our team accepted the case and deployed immediately.

We safely captured her within 36 hours of putting boots on the ground.  See the timeline below for details and capture video!

CASE TIMELINE

Tuesday 03/17/2026 17:45 ~ Team Boots on the Ground

Upon arrival on site, our team located the dog within a short amount of time. We met with our volunteer, Shannon, conducted a full assessment of the area, and gathered additional intel.

18:00~Feeding Station Deployed

We immediately deployed a video-monitored feeding station. This feeding station was strategically placed to begin conditioning the dog to a new, controlled feeding location, which will serve as the future site for corral trap deployment once the dog is fully conditioned.

To support this process, we trailed liquid smoke leading directly to the new feeding station location to help guide the dog into the new area.

03/19/2026 13:30 ~ Corral Deployed, Team Staged for Capture

After she located the feeding station, she made multiple visits throughout the day and night and has remained in the area, even resting at the feeding station for extended periods. Based on this progress, our team will deploy our 10’ x 10’ corral trap and stage for capture.

03/19/2026 13:55 ~ CAPTURED!

Only 25 minutes after our team set up the corral, armed it, and baited it with wet dog food and beef brisket, she arrived at the site.

She initially stood approximately 20 feet away, cautiously observing the corral for several minutes. Because she had not been fed since the previous day, she was hungry. After only about 10 minutes, she found the bravery to follow the beef brisket trail all the way inside our corral trap to the food bowl.

Our team was staged approximately 150 yards away and remotely triggered the door from the truck while monitoring a live camera feed from inside the corral.

Once the corral door was remotely triggered and secured, our team immediately approached with calm, controlled movement to minimize additional stress. After being safely captured, she quickly began to decompress and showed clear signs that survival mode was beginning to lift.

What had been an extremely elusive and terrified dog transformed almost immediately. She began wagging her tail, giving kisses, and even showed a playful side, making it clear that beneath the fear and survival instincts was an incredibly sweet and loving dog.

Transport to Collin County Animal Services

This sweet girl was safely loaded into the truck and transported to Collin County Animal Services for the required five-day stray hold.

During the ride, Debbie sat with her in the backseat to help keep her calm, comfortable, and reassured.

If she is not reclaimed by a family searching for her, our team will be working closely with our partner rescues to secure rescue placement and a foster home immediately following the completion of her stray hold.

Please continue to follow her case page here for future updates.

Upon arrival at Collin County Animal Services, she was immediately vaccinated for parvo and distemper, given dewormer, and settled into her run with food and water.

Due to a policy implemented by the new shelter manager, she will not be allowed any visitors during her stray hold period.

As many of our followers know, our team previously visited the dogs we captured at the shelter each day. Those visits helped with decompression, provided reassurance, and often helped dogs adjust more successfully to the shelter environment. Unfortunately, that is no longer possible under the current policy.

3/26/2026 ~ Transferred to I Am Dog Rescue

On March 26, 2026, I Am Dog Rescue pulled her from Collin County Animal Services after the completion of her stray hold. Ownership was officially transferred, and she has now been placed into a loving foster home. Her new name is Raven!

We are incredibly grateful for our partnership with I Am Dog Rescue. They consistently step up for our team and for the dogs we capture, ensuring they have a safe path forward.

Mutts & Mayhem Emergency Search and Rescue donated $500 to I Am Dog Rescue to assist with her veterinary expenses and ongoing care.

We encourage everyone to visit their website and follow their incredible work:  www.iamdogrescue.org

💚 Raven Is Even More Beautiful After A Spa Day!

Seeing her clean, comfortable, and finally able to relax is everything we hoped for. It’s hard to believe this is the same sweet girl who was out there surviving on her own.

We are so grateful to I Am Dog Rescue for giving her this next chapter and taking such incredible care of her.

This is what a second chance looks like 💚

A very special Thank You to Shannon, Angie, Nancy, CCAS & I Am Dog Rescue
